Some folks interpret 'conservative' to mean that change only properly occurs at the rate at which mud becomes stone, trees are petrified, mountains wear down to sand etc.

For many such, prior to change, an act of Congress is necessary; and the 12 Disciples & 12 Patriarchs must send a parchment msg from Heaven signed in their own blood; 12 leading laboratories must verify adequate proof via 144 solid, fool proof experiments witnessed by the Dean and all the resident scientists with full HD video tape; The Supreme Court must issue a unanimous decision in the change direction and an angelic cast of 10,000 angels singing the Hallelujah chorus must accompany a burning bush playing a continuous loop of Almighty God's booming thunderous voice declaring persistently for 77 minutes: THOU SHALT CHANGE!

Otherwise, it is considered illegal, irrational, humiliating & inviting mockery to change.

I don’t believe Conservative should mean resistance to change at all. The best definition or explanation of it I’ve ever read is the following: Question Everything, Conserve the Good.
