Marxism, central banking and fiat money was around before WWI. Das Capital was published in 1867 and Marx was already dead by the time this was filmed. The first communist society was 'The Paris Commune', in 1871.

I take your point, the two world wars ushered into western society a lot of bad stuff...

Of course these existed just before WWI, but they were released into the mainstream of society and public life after 1918.
