So to itallicize, you can add <i> in front of the word(s) and a closing itallics symbol, </i> after the words. Then, quick like a bunny, go through and put <P><P> at the end of each paragraph. (other people have similar codes that work - I'm just using what I learned in a class I took) if you have more than one paragraph.
Example below:
_________________________________________
President Donald J. Trump today announced his intent to nominate the following individuals to key positions in his Administration:<P><P>
<i>Bimal Patel</i> of Georgia, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Institutions.<P><P>
Mr. Patel currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for the Financial Stability Oversight Council. <P><P>

Once you post that text, the coding is invisible but the necessary paragraph breaks and itallics are present.
You may find it easier to use a horizontal line under the cited text you are referring to. I usually do. :)
*Note: the symbols above, when typed properly, would not be shown in this post had I not used a 3rd party free html editor to make sure that those HTML tags would be displayed as text and not actually hidden while creating the asked for itallics. There are many such sites.
I'm using https://html-online.com/editor/. They ask that you turn off ad blocking just while on their website or donate to help pay for the service offered. I typed this in the left window and the text is heavily formatted with extensive HTML coding I don't use normally, but it gets the look I want. I copy and paste from the right window into FR. For those who decide to use this type of editor - be sure to pull out any 8ch links that accidentally be picked up when copying a Q drop from an agregator.
Most hearty thanks for the html for dummies seminar!
You are the BEST!
at the end of each paragraph. (other people have similar codes that work - I'm just using what I learned in a class I took) if you have more than one paragraph.
Makes me think of the old days here where when someone forgot to close the tag the next posts were also italicized.
It is nice when someone repeats part of the post they are responding to, makes going back posts (sometimes many) to get an understanding unnecessary.
When I do have to go back I use a shift click on the referenced post number to open a new window.
