Perhaps that explains Lindsey Graham’s questions to Judge Kavanaugh about military tribunals.

Military trials do not occur under the auspices of the 6th Amendment and Criminal law, but under military law, which is passed by Congress and administered by the President as CinC. I don’t know what jurisdiction and venue rules apply to military tribunals, but you can bet they are not as convoluted. I am aware of military trials that happen far away from where the offense occurred.
