While that is true, in this case I'm going to have to disagree with Osaka and agree with the reporter.
Osaka is a Japanese (and US) citizen. She was born in Japan. She was not born in Haiti. The reporter's question really had nothing to do with skin color and race. It was about her country of origin.
I think the reporter's question was legit and Osaka was being color obsessed.

She plays the minority card. In the US since age 2, but claims to be Japanese and represents the Japanese nation?
How about interviewing the millions of Japanese tennis players and how they aren’t being acknowledged in international competition?
