Tomorrow morning I board a flight from Malaga to Santiago de Compostela then, 2 buses later, I arrive in Sarria and immediately start walking 20km to Portomarin. Most people who walk from Sarria to Santiago do it in 5 stages but I will be doing it in 6 so I have more time to sightsee along the way, plus I will have 1 full day in Santiago after I arrive and before my flight back. Weather looks good in the 10 day forecast so it should be a good walk.
One of our priests made the trip this summer.
He’s done it enough that he’s made friends with other regular visitors. The photos he posted on Facebook were amazing.
Safe travels.
Have a blessed journey.
where do you stay along the way?
There are church sponsored dormitories (refugios) along the way that are set up for pilgrims (perigrinos). Also, just about every bar has a few rooms upstairs they rent out. I used both. You can also backpack camp though not many choose that option.
How utterly disrespectful!!!
Buen Camino!
This is what is real. This pilgrimage......not what comes from the stupid Pope we have these days. I am Jewish but I envy what you are doing. Old school! ! ! Vaya con Dios!
