I was thinking it might, but it still seems to be a reasonable conjecture to me. It's either that, or he really is going nuts.

Well in fairness very high-intelligence people can sometimes be fairly eccentric, and say strange things.

Ed Land, founder of Polaroid, could be quite strange. Obviously also the case with Howard Hughes. Philippe Kahn, founder of Borland, was brilliant but made erratic decisions. He liked to attend board meetings by speakerphone while orbiting over the Borland campus in his airplane, five miles up. Eventually he flew his company into a mountainside.

Musk is probably in that mold.

I admire him as an engineer and an entrepreneur, but I'm dismayed by his recent behavior. He's acting like a fool, like Mark Zuckerberg, only maybe worse.
