Musk wants to make Tesla private. The stock was too high to realistically do that. If he purposely causes the stock value to crash, he could buy back at a much lower price. Hr may be playing the long con.

Seems unlikely with two senior exec departures today too and threat of lawsuit, not to mention the debt burden.

That thought had occurred to me. If someone is doing something that anyone could tell them would tank their stock price, then perhaps that is what they intended to happen.

That thought had occurred to me. If someone is doing something that anyone could tell them would tank their stock price, then perhaps that is what they intended to happen.

You're saying in effect that he's shorting his own company.

That strategy would leave him vulnerable to gigantic shareholder lawsuits.
