My wife is the genealogist in the family and is trying to get everyone to spit it the cup. ( genealogy and dna 2 different things )
She sent me down that siblings rabbit hole. ( check this out - lotta questions re: siblings not matching - https://genetics.thetech.org/genetic-categories/ancestry-0)

One article by the same Dr. and he does a dissertation on being cherokee.
The problem with it is, while DNA may identify one as being Native American, it supposedly can’t get to the tribe level.
Interesting sad - I got a close relative DNA hit from someone I didn’t know, who ended up contacting my wife.
She was looking for her father, who she never knew (one night stand). My wife and I figured it out down to either of 2 brothers.
Long story short (i know, it’s too late for that), my wife found the sister of the two brothers and she refused to bother her brother (one had died) nor would the sister give her DNA. The lady who contacted us is dying and wants to know more about any other genetic defects so she can pass that info to her kids.
Now we are trying to figure out why my uncle (my dad’s brother) has absolutely no DNA matches to anyone on his father’s side of the family, yet he has a ton of matches to people I have no matches to. (I know where this is going and I really don’t even want to go down that rabbit hole).
Bottom line, I asked my wife to be sure to let me know when she gets back to adam & eve.
