Facebook isn’t all that bad.
What I’ve done is been very selective about who I accept as a friend and very selective about who I invite to be my Friend. I have 26 friends and I like it that way.
Most of my posts are so generic - the weather, life in general, our family pets and yes, some politics are thrown in there. People, I think, could get a clear idea of where I stand politically.
The pictures on my website are normal. The worst one is of me sitting in a bar with a cheesy smile holding up a beer glass. Nothing gross or defamatory gets posted in the way of pictures.
I use Facebook more for news and personal interests - for example, some of my Likes are the Civil War Trust, the Green Bay Packers, local and state politicians, etc. Before I post something I always remember “Don’t post it unless you’re willing to take the heat for it”.
I only subscribe to gardening groups and the local buy/sell groups. No news, political or expat groups. No friends except my wife. I enjoy my Facebook time.
You went in with a better plan than I for sure. Wish I kept it small. It definitely has potential to be useful, especially small businesses.
