This thread is full of naïveté

It’s all speculation by people who obviously know almost nothing about guard breeds and training

Newsflash

Sometimes dogs just do bad things like people do

Malnois are much keener than Alsatians but a bit sharper too

My in son in laws dad raises Malnois and GSD for business and pitbulls for fun

He sells dogs all ove the world to us military and to dea and to foreign oil barons wanting protection dogs etc

He’s been bit and almost killed by good dogs thst just snapped while training

Freepers should stick to opining about pets

Not working dogs

One other tidbit...if you do work with potentially vicious dogs for whatever the reason if they’ve shown a propensity to attack their handler then I better have something to save yourself handy

You cannot dog whisper al dogs.....thst doesn’t excuse abusing them but to them you are packleader and they expect boundaries to be enforced by the boss

Observe how they do it with one another....it can be harsh

I’ve currently got two male Rotts aged two and one southern style American bulldog....male all unclipped

You can easily observe alpha and best behavior

I’m a big man and have litttle trouble the dogs submitting to me and going belly up upon approach

Now if posters here saw that they would think oh god he abuses his dogs

Nope they just do it because of my presence

But they actually love meh wife more but they don’t respect her commands like mine.....she spoils them....alpha Rottie sleep on the bed when I’m gone

I’m old and have dealt with major dogs since late 1960s

I use invisible fence on six acres up front and I will treat them firmly if I have to

Especially if I have to break them up

Usually I just talk firmly and they heel or squat....attentively....folks who have dogs like this know what I mean

I have a leather fly swatter I keep on the refrigerator like most folks

Say I’m trying to go to bed and I hear them down the hall in the den having playtime at one am if I get up and my 235 pounds stomps into their domicile and I reach up and grab that swatter and either smack it hard on the granite too Island or swat the bulldogs ass then boy it’s like attention and I’m sgt Emery

They sit and go full attention and obedience

You have to find something to motivate them....some folks use adjustment collars some folks food...I use food too when outside training ....and so forth

I see folks just talk to them over and over like with kids ....and it doesn’t work

I occasionally keep my oldest girls chihuahua and it’s a totally different gig

If she’s being defiant I just pick her up

She’s beside pliant immediately......game over....I hate little dogs.....except that one..lol

If I were guessing I’m suspecting officer was training with a collar and dog rebellled

I’ve use them and never had one turn on me but dogs learn quick who’s hitting that button lol

Bam....they will hit u

By the time an officer gets a dog, he's been trained quite a bit. How many K-9 cops have been mauled by their dogs? How many dogs have been abused by their handlers?

I'm not naive about dogs. I've had GSD for 28 years of marriage and about 30 years before that.

I've been bitten once by my GSD because I was young and stupid. She was about 1 year old and chewed up my good cowboy boot. I got pissed and swatted the crap out of her and she saw me raise my hand and stopped me by clamping on briefly. I was shocked by how fast and how hard she clamped down.

I calmed down, she backed off and I just realized that I was the wrong one and she was scared. We were friends for 12 years and I respected her after that and learned what a crappy dog owner I was till I started to train myself and my dogs.
