I lived west of Denver in the ‘foothills’ at 8,500 feet for two years. On both Labor Days it snowed. Not all that unusual.

Wyoming had over 6” of snow last week. Sounds as though it’s time for the woolies to be pulled out of storage in our northern tier.

Wolf Creek Pass had snow on July 4, 1965. Dad took pics of 5 kids in the snow and short sleeve shirts - back in Texas, neighbors asked if that was WHITE SAND...

indeed. my irrigation ditch ran out of water around the first week in august. usually it lasts into late september and even october sometimes ... my ditch is VERY senior, so the rest in the area ran dry long before august. earliest i remember, and 3rd generation farmer friends say they’ve never seen the ditches run dry this early in their lives ...

We usually have a ton of wild flowers around here but this year they really never bloomed.

It’s way too dry in Colorado. It was even Brown in the Spring when there is usually at least a hint of green. I lived there over 25 years and never saw it that dry before.
Glad to see a normal weather pattern beginning this year.

The breaking up of the persistent high pressure over the west has led to cooler temps and precipitation — great news for getting all the fires extinguished. The smoke has finally cleared somewhat in the inland northwest.
