Lyle Dean. Haven’t heard that name in years. Late ‘60s, early 70s. Here in North Louisiana, WLS was the most reliable nighttime signal. Sometimes, we could catch WNOE in New Orleans.

Back in the day b4 any of our gang could afford FM.

He did morning newscasts on ABC Radio’s “Contemporary Network.”

I was working news at KWMT in Fort Dodge and had to follow Lyle’s super voice.

Oh, Lord. Make me think of these names - Roger Grimsby, Doug Limerick, Joe Templeton.

Looked everywhere, can’t find Templeton audio. Lots of stuff on Limerick and Grimsby.

Since we’re talking radio news, how about this set of pipes from CBS.

Gears doesn’t ring a bell. Must have been daytime. Landecker, Dean, I can hear them clear as ever in my mind.

Templeton from 30-40 years ago, and I was on the road at about 5 or 6 AM, and had to get my morning fix of news.

“Goooooooood Monday Morning! I’m Joe Templeton, American Contemporary News!”

“Those tricks lead to crappy audio. “

Most people never learn that the human voice is asymmetrical.

If you phase the microphone at the studio correctly it will naturally be 150% one way, while 100% the other. Gotta be our vocal cords and how they vibrate when we speak.
