Dear Mr. xxx
This responds to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated and received in this Office on August 7, 2017, in which you requested records pertaining to the background investigation, review of ethics, and conflicts of interest made on behalf of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
This response is made on behalf of the Office of the Deputy Attorney General....

Based on further review and research by this Office, you are seeking records maintained by the Justice Management Division (JMD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), we have forwarded your request to these Department components for processing and direct response to you.
Contact information for both JMD and the FBI may be found in the Department of Justice Freedom of Information Act Reference Guide.

Then they gave info about an appeal of this particular decision. What they didn't tell me is, would I need to re-file the FOIA specifically with JMD & FBI, even though DOJ said to responded to me directly.

Yes, you have to refile a separate FOIA for each agency.
