Just part and parcel.
Ugh, don't use the store socks to try on shoes, either.

Not quite sure to blame those shoes. Something smells very journalist ‘science’ about this.

Hmmmm. I have my doubts about this. Sepsis in 24 hours? I suspect, the little girl had the infection, tried the shoes on and inoculated the shoes she tried on. Infection, even the worse have an incubation of around 72 hours. I assume we’re talking about MRSA here. Even then, I doubt that the infection arose from trying on the shoes, then she comes down with an infection in 24 hours or less.

Ah, but Mom got lots of pictures of herself published. Bet no mention of Dad means she’s single and available, now very publicly known.

She was rushed to hospital in agony where doctors diagnosed sepsis from the bacteria in the shoes on display in the shop. That is certainly an odd sentence. I'm picturing a TV doctor like House looking at the girl's feet and suddenly exclaiming, "You were trying on shoes at that shop on Piccadilly Street, weren't you?"

She stepped on something, injured her skin, and it got infected. Might have happened even without trying on shoes.

Now if they only had those X-ray shoe fit machines all this would be avoided.....the X-rays would promptly kill off any bacteria.

Yes. The pictures seem to be of a self-centered Millennial, who likely has numerous selfies on her Facebook page.

Well, compared with the French, at least many of the women shave their armpits. All need deodorant, though.

I agree. Trying on the shoes was only coincidental to her having the infection, IMHO.

The insoles of shoes are usually excellent growth areas for various fungus, molds, and bacteria. This is why shoe stores used to not allow shoes to be tried on without socks and most had socks you could use to try them on. Yeah, the store socks were not much better but again, way back when, many local stores would tell you to keep the store socks (they were cheap anyway).
One cut or sore on your foot is all it takes to get an infection or pass one on.
A self-induced, common sense, problem, not the shoe store.

The article is sensationalism for the stupid.
She had to have a break in her skin, and NOBODY knows where the germs came from that initiated the sepsis.
The girl probably has a compromised immune system too.

Those are supposed to be disposed of after trying the shoes on. Maybe they should come in sealed packages.

I bought some water sandals, wore them, and promptly developed athletes foot fungus from whoever tried the on before I bought the pair. Now I make sure I spray with Lysol and athlete’s foot spray before using for the first time.
