'Our request was not f***ing out of the ordinary': Bridezilla who asked guests to pay $1,200 [tr]

A disgruntled bride-to-be has revealed she was forced to cancel her extravagant 'fairytale' wedding after her guests refused to pay $CAD 1,500 each to attend.

The Canadian bride, who is known only as 'Susan', was due to tie the knot with her childhood sweetheart in a lavish $CAD 60,000 ($46,020) wedding.

But the couple decided to call off the ceremony just four days before exchanging their vows after they struggled to foot the bill.

Taking to Facebook to explain their decision, the furious mother-of-one blamed her family and friends for the breakdown of her relationship as she vented her frustration in a lengthy post.

Wow. I can almost hear her Hillary-like screech:

"I specifically, I mean specifically asked for cash gifts. How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding?"

Reading through that bridezilla's expletive-laced posting, that similarity to Ubershrew is striking!

Hopefully he ran as far away as possible as fast as he could.

Heh.. maybe that's why he mentioned a Vegas wedding.. knowing she'd go ballistic and launch him out. Hopefully she won't successfully lure him back.

Have to agree. Wedding expenses are the stupidest way to start a life together. I’ve been married 30 years and I think our wedding cost less than $1000 dollars. These imbeciles who spend 10s of thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands on a wedding are the ones that are most likely to be divorced a few years later. It’s because they’re stupid and self centered and eventually can’t get along with a spouse who disagrees with them on any issue. If you’ve got the money to burn, go for it, but if you have to beg for it, it’s a bad start.

I agree with that. Those that are wealthy I say go for it, you are helping the economy. But if you are not and have to borrow (or in this case beg) to pay for the wedding then the marriage will most likely end in divorce because you are creating one of the main causes for arguments in a young marriage - money (or lack of it)

I tend to agree.

No one is this delusional...

“’I specifically, I mean specifically asked for cash gifts. How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding?’ she said.

‘We’d sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500. We talked to a few people who even promised us more to make our dream come true.”

Is this a new trend, to charge guests to attend your wedding?

“Justice of the peace is around $50 I think.”

$35 when my son and DIL got married a couple of years ago.

And no one was invited except his/her best friends to serve as witnesses.

I’m a stick in the mud, but I never wanted a lavish wedding. I just wanted to get married. That’s unusual for a bride, I guess, but the thought of all those details just makes my head spin. And from a spiritual viewpoint, it seems so self-centered.

Sounds like a fantastic wedding. Always good when the guests are more important than who wore what.

Like I said, my wife stressed over the little things - though I wonder how much of it was her, and how much of it was my mother-in-law. As the date drew nearer, Mrs WBill limited her mother to "one suggestion per day", it was the only way she could keep her sanity.

My family? Everyone came in - all of my grandparents' generation, who were all a hoot. They landed at a local hotel. Booze was provided by a late relatives' estate (that's a story in and of itself). The wedding, quite frankly, was just an excuse for all of them to get together one more time and party. The service and reception at the church were just formalities - the fun was had at the hotel, and at my parent's place the week before and the week after.

Nice...I got a real laugh out of it...one of the reasons I love FR...:)

Honestly, I hate being that way about another human being, but this woman and her cronies mean us harm. We are at war with her and her ilk, many of us simply haven’t fully accepted it yet.

I have no problem heaping abuse on her.

IMO, the article read as if the bride had never left the US.

But your interpretation could be correct, who knows?

With all the narcissists walking around today, I can see one behaving in this fashion.
