Cohens attorney threw the MSM into overdrive when he “helpfully” told them in July Cohen is able to provide investigators with proof Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting in advance. Cohen supposedly would say that he was present when Trump was informed.
Then, he wasn’t. Cohen’s lawyer is strenuously telling interviewers that this is NOT true. But, CNN just flat doesn’t care. I watched Davis emphatically tell a disappointed ANderson Cooper that the story was NOT true. Doesn’t matter - the MSM needs this talking point and won’t stop asserting it even though there are at least two recent interviews where Davis insists this is false.
I wonder if that was the plan from the start - just make the assertion and then later retract it knowing that CNN and others will “stand by the story.” Davis is “in the clear” because he retracted and CNN/MSM get to pretend to “stand by their story.”
