FULL TITLE: John McCain dies at 81: War hero, father and presidential candidate had been fighting aggressive brain cancer since last summer - and leaves behind a proud legacy of public service
Senator John McCain has died aged 81 after a battle with brain cancer.
On Friday his family announced the veteran senator was to discontinue treatment for cancer and his office announced he passed away surrounded by his wife Cindy, and family, at home at 4:28pm on Saturday.
A statement released by his office said: 'Senator John Sidney McCain III died at 4:28pm on August 25, 2018. With the senator when he passed were his wife Cindy and their family.
'At his death, he had served the United States of America faithfully for 60 years.'
A hearse was seen leaving the McCain family home shortly after 7pm local time.
His daughter, Meghan McCain, led the tributes.
She said: 'My father is gone, and I miss him as only an adoring daughter can. But in this loss, and in this sorrow, I take comfort in this: John McCain, hero of the republic and to his little girl, wakes today to something more glorious than anything on this earth. Today the warrior enters his true and eternal life, greeted by those who have gone before him, rising to meet the Author of All Things.
'The dream is ended: this is the morning.'

Yep — my husband died 15 days after his diagnosis — Stage 4 GBM — same as McQueeg.
... and Sarah Palin.
Whatever McCain did to tick people off, I think it is best to put those things behind us rather than to continue to dwell on them.
De mortuis nihil nisi bonum.
RIP Senator. You lived up to your nickname *Marveick*. RIP.
he has no name
Not always true.
My Grandpa had caner of the throat, took 2 years for him to pass. Took two weeks for him to die after being in the hospital. My Grandmother stopped IV’s 10 days before he died. He pretty much was sleeping then went into fetal position few days prior to his passing. It was really hard on all of us to watch. I did witness the “getting better” day when he was awake and looked like he was getting better. That day, he awoke from a sleep and raised his hands in to prayer and was saying I am sorry, sorry. I think he was seeing his life flash before him. He then went back to sleep. I also heard the death rattle.
They said he “discontinue treatment for his cancer” on Friday, he dies on Saturday.
More than likely he’s been on life support for a while, and they just finally removed life support on Friday.
The question is, just how long has he been, in all effect, dead?
And, who’s been making up his “statements” when no one from outside the family has seen, or talked to him for quite a while now?
Not when he betrayed my brother in arms back in the late ‘60’s
“Roberta Wright and her identical twin sister Rowena (19122011)”
Good genes for one twin to live to be 99 and the other to at least 106.
“Father”? Big deal. Lots of us are fathers and some are good ones.
Hurry up and bury him. It is August and we are running out of ice.
Appropriate verse. He committed acts of treason against the United States. He has to pay for that, in loss of honor in this life and in eternity in the one to come.
Yep.
Don’t see how any of his service was a “hero’s” action. There are many many more real heroes from that War.
But then, affiliation with 3 different McCains in the family clarifies what he really was. And the information is freely available first hand accounts.
So, he was a Senator. And a creator of ISIS, an enabler of ISIS, who would not listen to the escapees from Iraq and their true story of the actions and politics of these thugs. It did not fit the “gunrunning” cartel he shares with the clintoonian/obamaumao liars and thieves. And THAT is the truth. Terrible legacy, to have the “get out of jail” your cleared for Keating 5 be the sword of Damocles that motivated him to “cross the aisle” and “be a Maverick”. All a charade.
Speak truth. He flew planes, got out of a lot of due diligence in flight training because of who were his kin. Now we can move on, under better examination of our warriors and protection of their true skills— to defeat our enemies, not to parlez with them.
De mortuis nihil nisi bonum.
Ille est mortuos et illud bonus est.
My wife had bought some peaches the other day and made a peach cobbler last night.
Man that was good!
Maybe not in private life. But I believe it holds with public figures. Barbara Bush for example.
You know, there's some peach cobbler in the refrigerator. That would taste great right now. Thanks for the suggestion.
Go for it!
I do not think being shot down makes someone a war hero. His behavior in captivity was also very suspicious. He should have gone to prison years ago in Keating 5 and his actions with Clinton under Obama in the Mideast and Ukraine were major American and international crimes.
Absolutely agree with you about this villain. Sometime in the future the whole story about this piece of garbage will come out.
I did.
Delicious.
