Google today celebrates the 100th anniversary of composer, conductor, pianist and music raconteur Leonard Bernstein.
Linked is a Youtube video of Bernstein conducting Mozart's Symphony no. 39 performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1985.
Amazing talent. I was fortunate to see his genious in person.
Supporter of murderous Black Panthers.
He recorded the 4 Symphonies by Robert Schumann with the NY Philharmonic back in the 60’s. #2 was my favorite recording for years (until I discovered Grieg).
And as queer as a three-dollar bill.
A parade with tanks on Red Square would be appropriate for this Communist fiend.
Yes. Whatever one thinks of his personal life or political beliefs he was a genius and a rare talent. I watched some old reruns of some TV programs he did in the 1950s and 60s...Omnibus and the Children’s’ Concert Series. His love for music was unsurpassed and he had the gift for making it more understandable for non musicians such as myself.
Yes! I just recently found them online.
