We’re in the process of losing our third family member to dementia. Whoever called it The Long Goodbye put it well.
It’s too long for how horrible it is. I am so sorry for you and your loved one and family.
After having seen Dad go all the way down all the stages and have Alzheimer’s be his cause of death, because he was so darn fit and healthy otherwise, we are now with Mom just hoping she doesn’t have to go all the way down thst horrible path. She has some other issues and best would be if one night in her sleep she just went on to the next world. Alzheimer’s is the worst condition ever.
My Mother died in June this year. She had dementia. I have missed her for many years even though she was here physically. She also was not able to communicate much before her death.
Dementia robs the patient and the family and friends.
It is so heartbreaking.
