Presidential assassins are handled in civilian court (if they make it to trial).
Garfield's assassin was convicted (and subsequently hanged) in the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia.
The assassin of President McKinley was tried at the Superior Court Chambers in Buffalo, New York (and then executed).
John Hinckley was tried in Washington D.C.s Federal District Court (and found not guilty by reason of insanity, i.e., schizophrenia).
Treason is also handled in civilian courts. Julius and Ethel Rosenburg were tried and convicted (and subsequently executed) in the New York Southern District federal court.
