...The Recording Industry Association of America told The Associated Press on Monday that the Eagles' album -- "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" -- is now certified 38x platinum, which means sales and streams of the album have reached 38 million copies...

We never talked politics.
He does not even talk about his music.
We share a mutual relative/family friend.
But at least they arent child molesters.
[with that said, I love the Eagles music]
That would be the Flying Burrito Brothers rather than the Birds.
Ill disagree about Henley being a great guy for now.

“....proper respect is in order for the Eagles.
Their great music depicting American life is appreciated by every generation since the 1970s, and wont be duplicated by anyone else.”
Fair enough word on the Eagles but I’ll never have a good word nor forgive Moonbeam for diddling Linda Ronstadt back in the day.
Linda probably slept with all of those guys except Jerry even though they were “boyfriend and girlfriend”.
Interesting... So Hotel California which last year was certified to have sold 18 million copies has suddenly leaped into third place behind Triller? 8 million copies of Hotel California sold last year?
And Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd has sold a reported 26 million copies is certified by the RIAA as only having sold 15 million... Even though it spent an astonishing 900 weeks on the top 100 selling albums?
Wonder how much the RIAA charges to make their certifications? Maybe Pink Floyd might want to make a few contributions... Not to mention the Beatles..
Yes, he is an unpatriotic asshole liberal.
2003 Las Vegas, I was about to enter freshman year at Stanford and my uncles comped me for a show as a college present. Don Henley show at at well-known hotel/casino on the strip.
The idiot BEFORE he starts singing went on a 15 minute hate spew about America, trashing our troops, Bush as evil and he hates Republicans!
Almost 50 in the crowd, including me at front stage came within 5 feet, gave him a middle finger INCHES to his face and said “dare say that again to my face you POS liberal f***”
Well, I got pushed down by security LOl because almost half the crowd wanted to beat the sh*t out of this clown who ran out after he was rushed on stage.
I posted this story numerous times on FR since 2005 whenever a Freeper says nice things about Henley...
Glenn Frey, I’ve met dozens of times here in L.A and he’s an OK guy. Even said Reagan was a great man which almost floored me.
Bernie Leadon’s brother, Tom was in Tom Petty’s first band, Mudcrutch.
And Don Felder taught Tom Petty how to play guitar when they grew up together in Gainesville.
The one in the middle is clearly a turkey.
From the years 1971 To 1975 in American popular music?
Then name them.
Paul McCartney, Elton John or maybe The Stones? Hmm. Carole King or The Carpenters...both these female lead artists could claim a top place among those 5 years were debating, but the album sales of their best early 70s recordings since then is being blown away by Frey & Henley. True all these great artists hardly should be considered second class popular music (in fact they all belong in the HOF) but its the lasting and enduring consistent sales that the Recording Industry Assoc Of America is recognizing today.
The song “Hotel California” is a rip-off of Jethro Tull’s “We Used to Know”
When asked about it, Ian Anderson remarked that he considered Hotel California to be a pretty good tribute. “It’s a bit like this tribute Rolex that I’m wearing.”
and wont be duplicated by anyone else.
Let us most fervently hope so.

I was not at that 2003 show.
Henley is tight with a cousin of mine and I have met him a few times over my lifetime.
He never talked politics, or even music, he was just a dude hanging out with friends and family.
That’s all I saw, or anyone on my family saw.
The wrong one died.
That’s Ok. It is what it is. They just kicked us out, no arrests LOL.
No kidding. What’s so funny is that Henley actually said he WONT TOUR ANYMORE after Frey’s death, citing “it wont be the Eagles without Glen”
And what happens? He goes on tour.
Actually,I should have been more specific. When I made my earlier statement I was thinking of the entire history of rock.IMO,the Eagles couldn't hold a candle to a dozen,or more, groups of the 60s...and maybe even one or two groups of the 80s.
I suppose that it should be noted that I see the 60s as *the* greatest decade of rock followed by the worst, the 70s.
Of course there are those who'll disagree.
