I agree with you that the faith should not be indicted here. Catholics are not bad, or evil, and their/your religion is neither.
The problem comes when this stuff is discovered. Teachers are arrested. As are ministers and rabbis. They are certainly ostracized and “banished” from the jobs.
They may be repeat offenders, but their parent organization does not cover for them and place them into another location.
The distrust of the church is a distrust of their leadership, who have repeated the same behavior time and again.
If this isn't rectified they will lose many, many faithful.
I will disagree that public education doesn't do the same thing.
It's an open secret and has been going on for decades.
The Boy Scouts of America is another organization that is guilty of it. See "The Perversion Files".
And no, this isn't a defense of the Church with me saying "Well, they did it to!"

The Church and all institutions, especially the leadership needs to be purged of homosexuals, predators and their enablers and the guilty need to go to prison.
