In light of recent events, methinks it's fair to ask: What's the current status & justification of FR policy re: Alex Jones & InfoWars?
Worst case, thered be a market for new non-censoring ISPs & backbones;

Most ISPs are just bandwidth resellers. Telecom backbones on the other hand are not very dynamic. Like changes in the energy sector, new communication paths require planning and capital
Alex Jones should have been a Jazz Musician like his brother Quicy. Did you know Quincy Delight Jones Jr. (born March 14, 1933), also known as “Q
Q? See the connection!
Maybe I’m not ready for prime time conspiracy theory yet.
But I know who Q is.
AJ is the tip of the spear when it comes to the MSM and Big Tech.
Now is not the time to be shooting to the right.
No one will agree on 100% of anything.
The right needs to stop shooting at each other.
We would like to think as Freepers we are a cut above the average animal and can use our superior intellect to discern the importance of any site.
We post LIBERAL articles here so we can see what they are thinking.
We should have no issue with other sites for the same reason- more information is always good.
FR doesn’t generate custom subject lists like FB, so it’s hard for people to avoid bat$h!t-crazy content like AJ. This is a smaller site, with a more focused user base. Ergo Jim et al ban some of the most chronically popular-yet-obnoxious sources. Ergo I can’t fault other sites for doing the same; problem is the coordinated legal deplatforming made him vulnerable to illegal measures (DDOS) finishing him off.
I use to think most conspiracy theories were outlandish garbage...
~~~
Most are.
I LOVE a good well made conspiracy. Like fiction, they require a large investment in research and composition.
But most conspiracy theories are just that; fiction.
Just because I love them doesn’t mean I believe them, but the best ones are difficult to disprove.
One of the first signs that a conspiracy theory is fiction, to me, is to spot the socio-political motivation behind them. I don’t mean to open a can of worms here (though I am sure I am) but the motivations behind truthers are blatantly obvious. Most of them at the time either hated Bush or anti-interventionalists (something I am mostly sympathetic to) but I remember distinctly watching the burning towers in the company break-room and telling co-workers that those buildings were going to collapse. It wasn’t a bold prediction, as someone with higher education that included courses in architecture and structural design, I knew that that the steel in most modern high rises are coated in fire retardant materials that were never designed to withstand a long high temperature burn of jet-fuel. It doesn’t take a genius to have predicted the collapse nor a genius to recognize that most of the people in the media and internet who were latching on to demolition and missile theories had a desire for them to be true.
TBH, I’m surprised I never became a consumer of Alex Jones or Infowars, but I just don’t seek out conspiracy theories anymore. Creepy pastas are great too if you have free time and find the good ones
Difference is: in China, you’ll be jailed for creating a work-around for the problem.
Here, if a work-around is prohibited, there will be a civil war.
Did China just lost the tarrif war?
Can’t someone, please, create a free speech oriented social media/content posting platform which is easy to use, and which allows users/friends to post/communicate freely?
It just doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult.
Understood that big advertisers wouldn’t go along. But...remember, there was a time when each of these big platforms were much smaller and they were doing just fine. It seems like a platform funded by smaller advertisers would still be financially viable.
Cant someone do that, like, yesterday?
Please?
The trick is creating it as a common carrier system. Legally it has to be built so the operators do not have a disincentive for hosting any and all content.
Why was Zero Hedge banned from FR?
Elvis has passed. He died from wounds sustained during a battle with a re-animated mummy in East Texas. Its true!
Please god let that happen in this timeline.
It was? Crap. Seemed the most sane of the fringe.
Jim may want to revisit ALL the bans now, lest FR serve as further precedent for deplatforming.
Agree with everything you said...
I would like JR to post his thoughts ... Alex may not always be right but he is honest...
I tried to post an article about a large drop in Facebook traffic but got a “Zero Hedge no thanks” response.
Unless you write down the IP number it would be very difficult if not impossible to remember making your suggestion virtually useless.
