In light of recent events, methinks it's fair to ask: What's the current status & justification of FR policy re: Alex Jones & InfoWars?
Alex Jones / Infowars is about 90% conspiracy theory. I largely ignore it.
Every once in a blue moon, though, something he says turns out to be right and I wished I had paid attention to it when he said it first.
Alex Jones is considered a bit of a “fringe” character. If the PTB try to silence Breitbart, all h*** will break loose and the Feds may drop the hammer on Facebook, Google and Twitter in no time flat.
” AJ doesnt generate much original content beyond his conspiracies du jour.”

ROTFLOL!! Zinggggggggggggggg!
The true test of how one feels about Freedom of Speech is how those we disagree with are treated.
I don’t like censorship in any form, regardless of who is saying it, I like to know who the idiots are out there, anyway.
Ban lifted by jimrob on 8/8. Where ya been?
Nothing truer ever spoken.
When those in the drivers seat start losing their way and are demoted, the ebbing cash stream starts to scare them.
They get all moral and start censoring so you only see their version of events.
All in the name of “protecting the people”.
My CC and 2a protects me, for now.

Other than the most tech savvy, how many would actually know how to do that?
Toleration, at best, keeping them at arms length. He is an absolute nut case and poisons anyone he touches. That said, protecting his free-speech rights are our fight too.

Which means you can still get to it if they block or remove the record from the DNS resources, but that doesn’t mean IPs can’t be blocked. Still I think the later would require ISP cooperation and would be much more drastic a move.
I used to like AJ and infowars...in the same way I liked Coast to Coast AM, but that was before they started letting Cernovich on. Then it all became click bait for supplements and followers on social media. Soon after, they hit rock bottom when Infowars began inviting Navy urine collector, Jack Posobiec (most famous for producing protest signs like: Rape Melania.)
Its more than strange given Jones was prevented from attending Cerno and Giesea’s DC DeploraBall party, even though he was at the inauguration. I spoke with him briefly and he was very annoyed at the time.
So do I, but in light of recent events seems important to rally to his support.
He’s nuts, but not immoral. We can’t just let him be silenced. I’m of the “get your own press” mindset, but (A) FR can’t criticise others having instituted an AJ/IW ban long ago (at least it was rescinded), and (B) post-deplatforming (legal) he’s subjected to DDOS attack (illegal) to finish him off. He’s the crazy uncle: we ignore him most of the time, but still protect him when attacked.
“Where ya been?”
Not on FR 24/7.
You know now. Word of mouth.
ISPs blocking would be a severe action, probably violating “common carrier” laws. They’d be sued, customers would switch providers, and (acting as originally designed) internet would largely route around blockage. Worst case, there’d be a market for new non-censoring ISPs & backbones; some viable & interesting tech is waiting for the opportunity.
Why does the site ban any news site...were no different than face book
www.InfoWars.com
I think Jones is a nut and a fraud, but so is virtually everyone on the left, including the Maobamas.
Typical techie response.
IP Adresses changes can be mandated.
Then a site must use MAC Addresses.
Typical techie response.
How many people are going to type in hexadecimal, when the real hex is unknown? That is called censorship.
Do you think China can simply type in an IP or hex??

That's great. Jones is really on our side and especially at this time, needs all the help he can get.
