“The Japanese refuse to bow and scrape and wail apologies every day for things done by men who are dead. They refuse to actively destroy their cultural-enthic homogeneity.”
That is really one of the most retarded summations of what this issue is about, and why nations like China and Korea are still cold towards Japan.
The issue is never the issue. It's a convenient stick for the international collective to beat Japan over the head with under the guise of acknowledging and righting wrongs done to the Chinese and Koreans during the Imperial Period and WW2. The Koreans have never liked the Japanese and the Chinese don't like to admit that their commie government, which slaughtered far more Chinese than the Japs did both directly and through suicide tactics in Korea, needed Japanese aid to construct huge swathes of their infrastructure. As if tearing down Yakusuni and rewriting school books would make it all better.
What's your genius interpretation of the issue?
