Uhm...reading your most extensive epistle makes me think you take just a little pleasure in our (RC's) discomfort. So let's get a few things straight, ok?
Not all priests were/are abusers.
Not all abusers are priests.
There are many examples of other religon's abuse...but we don't hear about those? Want to know why? Because, in 2018, it's still okay to bash Catholics.
I'm not here to start a religious war. Please be careful that you don't paint our whole church as a culture of abuse. Please don't condemn our beliefs. And, above all, please don't tell us that our Church is founded on lies. For centuries, we were the only Game in town, so we were good enough then.
P.S. I can't wait to get to Heaven and hear God say "Why, blu, I thought you knew...I'm not any religion at all! Your religions were just constructs to keep everyone in line until they got back here, to Me!"
Nothing personal. And certainly I am not defending the abusers!!! Or the darn bishops....or that guy sitting in Rome.
Agree on all points.
I did some digging upon the last words of Billy Graham but refrained from posting about it because I thought it would cause pain. Decided to just wait for Q to reveal facts.
As for those who want to crow over the Catholics, remember we are blessed when persecuted for Jesus’ sake.
imho:
1. the rot is pervasive across all organized and informal groups. The RCC is merely a glaring example with greater numbers and possibly greater percentages of rot because of the structure and nature of the priesthood and channels and types of authority, no marriage, etc.
2. It remains to be seen what the actual, factual percentages will turn out to be for the RCC as well as other formal and informal groups. POTUS and team QAnon have more than hinted that the percentages involved will be shockingly horrific. I believe them. Some of us have studied puzzle pieces to that effect for decades.
3. As I tried to emphasize, no group, no individual has any grounds to look haughtily down on any other individual or group.
I was molested by a visiting Priest when I was 7. During my First Communion rehearsal. 1963.
Saint Luke’s in Barrington RI.
Father Brennon and Father O’Gara talked my parents into not pressing charges.
For my own good.
I was one of 14 little girls.
All the priests knew All the nuns knew. They covered for the pedo.
It can be difficult to be among such righteous folk, thank you for pointing it out. Too bad this thread has devolved.
