To me it seems to be an Ankh.
A cross with a loop which was an Egyptian symbol representing life or the key to life. I believe it was also representative of the Nile Delta, a fertile drainage area where the Nile empties into the Med, the water and food grown in this area provide life to ancient Egypt .
Tutankhamun was; Tut (the pharoh) ankh (the key) Amun (also Amon, Ammon, an Egyptian god)
