My dad was stationed in Japan in the early 50s. I grew up an Army Brat, 1951-1961.
In those years, Yokohama, Sagamihara and nearby cities were just beginning to rebuild and there were many empty city blocks where piles of concrete rubble remained.
The surviving Japanese believed the bombers had somehow spayed the cities with gasoline and ignited it from above.
They were not too far wrong...
