I was there in 1997. The grounds are immaculate, but surrounding it is one of the filthiest places in the world. Not surprising that they couldnt maintain it In that environment.

My Dad said the same thing about the place. He said it was very immaculate and beautiful but once off the grounds, it was filthy.
I have a picture of my Dad and other American soldiers at the Taj Mahal during WW II.

A shame, they have such intelligent people (no help line jokes) but their squalor just seems beyond them.
Of course, San Fagsicko is in the running there, they both have massive public defecation issues.

I have a friend who took his wife there for their anniversary. He agrees with you. Says he stepped in a pile of camel dung and then realized "My God, these people have nuclear capability!"
