I was there in 1997. The grounds are immaculate, but surrounding it is one of the filthiest places in the world. Not surprising that they couldn’t maintain it In that environment.

I have not been there but a few years back saw some photos of the surrounding area. It was shocking.

My Dad said the same thing about the place. He said it was very immaculate and beautiful but once off the grounds, it was filthy.

I have a picture of my Dad and other American soldiers at the Taj Mahal during WW II.

Never been there, but most all I have read about India sounds like that.

A shame, they have such intelligent people (no help line jokes) but their squalor just seems beyond them.

Of course, San Fagsicko is in the running there, they both have massive public defecation issues.

I have a friend who took his wife there for their anniversary. He agrees with you. Says he stepped in a pile of camel dung and then realized "My God, these people have nuclear capability!"
