I usually just keep one weapon handy in my car. In the rest of my house are a lot more but they are not instantly ready. I have outlived almost all my family with only a Daughter and her family living a thousand miles away. For some reason, the idea of someone sneaking up on me while I am asleep has always bothered me.
I do keep a few more near outside doors. Also a couple hidden outdoors. I live in a rural area.
I just realized there is also a pole axe leaning against the wall. I can’t imagine a situation where I would use it, but there it is anyway.
I don’t think there is a one best answer for home defense. But I had a thought. Maybe firing our choice at night to experience the muzzle flash would be educational. Might even save a person’s life some day.
