Actually I have a Remington .22 pump that has the same effect, but it poses less danger to the furniture.
I think a good .22 auto is a better than average home defense weapon.
Beside my bed and in the room are a Winchester Defender 18 inch loaded with OO buck. About any other load would be about as good. Two fully loaded Browning Hi-Powere and a bunch of spare mags. (the spare mags are probably not really necedssary but I have them so why not?
Also a Remington Model 552 Speedmaster fully loaded including chamber with safety on. Also an 18” machete, a carpenters hatchet, a rebuilt Samurai Sword, and a Cold Steel speear.
I would prefer a Ruger 10/22 to the Remington but they are both very reliable. The Ruger can hold more rounds and can be reloaded far faster. The Remington is unusually accurate but that would make no difference in the house.
Oh, I forgot, also two Cold Steel short shovels sharpened almost to razor sharp on all edges. Those shovels have really hard steel and are hard to sharpen.
