A Montana man who was accused of filling his water cup with soda at a fast food restaurant has been arrested and charged with multiple misdemeanors and a felony.
Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says police were called to the scene on Thursday around 2:30 pm after Daniel Stine started a fight with a restaurant employee.
The 48-year-old had allegedly tried to fill a water cup with soda at a restaurant and was confronted by an employee who told him he would have to pay for the soft drink, Welsh said to KGVO.
"When confronted by an employee who informed him that he had to pay for the cup of soda he refused and left out one of the entrances," Welsh said, KGVO reported. "The employee followed him, told him that he was not welcome back then he turned and came back towards the employee and tried to kick that person before walking away again."
Stine had fled the restaurant when police arrived, but officers spotted him entering another restaurant nearby and followed him into the restroom where he had gone to hide.
According to police officers, once authorities found Stine in the bathroom the man began to resist arrest and officers shocked him with a stun gun.
"The officers were able to make entry to the bathroom, however, when they did and confronted the man, rather than comply with their instructions he approached them in what appeared to be an aggressive manner," Welsh said. "The officers attempted to take control of him physically and that's when he began to resist and fight with the officers and had to be tased to comply to the officer's instructions."
Stine was arrested and booked with four misdemeanors including resisting arrest, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

Does this mean white NFL players are going to start taking a knee during the National Anthem?
I had an encounter with police last night. Going away party. Things may have gotten out of hand. Lol.
Rule is simple: dont be a jerk. Yes sir, yes maam, that kind of thing. They went out of their way to be kind in response, and theyre a notoriously hardcore police department north of Dallas.

From all that exertion, he was a little flushed.
Thanks Simon Green.
Looks high as a kite
Must be a dem. The conservatives I know don’t engage in theft
the homeless do that at the Jack In The Box I know of in downtown. The employees cant not just say no or FU, because they know it’s not coming from their pockets anyway. In addition, to avoid potential violence from these clowns.
Some JITB restos’ though get smart and shut off the machines when they know there are paying customers like me..
There is only one thing wrong with this report.
It doesn’t say I got to tase him.
I despise thieves, especially this kind. They ruin things for all the normal honest people.
Now he’ll get all the soda he wants plus free meals, air conditioned room and free clothes.
A sad truth.
Charged with “felony robbery”.
For a dollar drink...dudes brain dead.
I didn’t know that’s a common thing.
At McDonalds, you have a selection of sodas, water, and carbonated water. Is the latter considered a soda? What happens if you ask for a cup for water and take the carbonated kind? Cheating?
Restaurants make big money on soda sales considering they put like one or two cents into every cup of soda they sell.
So basically this guy got tazed for about $0.02 worth of product, not including the cost of the cup. That’s ridiculous.
But it is just as ridiculous that anybody would steal soda.
The thief has got to have some mental issues and they probably should be addressed. Sadly they will be addressed on the backs of the taxpayers.
Confession time. If you order an Unsweetened Ice Tea at McDonalds, they still charge you $1, but its not taxed. And since I hate dealing with pennies, and the $1.08 a taxed diet coke costs, I order the unsweetened Ice Tea, and fill the cup with Diet Coke. So I’m not stealing from McDonalds, but the state government isn’t getting my 8 cents.
There, I feel better already.
He didn’t get tazed for $0.02 of product. He got tazed because he was stupid enough to fight with police officers.
This is exactly the kind of guy that should spend a few days in the county lockup. It’ll give him time to reflect on his defective thinking.
It’s amazing the efforts people will go just to save a couple of bucks.
Yes and I am sure the establishments are sick of loosing $$ for it.
Just like this guy, probably been doing it so long he forgot how to pay for soda, which he obviously doesn’t need
Jeebus that looks like crazy Glenny B.
A recently remodeled McDonalds I was in recently moved the self serve drink station from a side location to one where the cashiers could watch it all the time. I guess this is why.
If he left out of it, wasn't it an exit?
Amazing, isn't it? I've seen grown men throw their Navy careers away over the most pointless stupidity. I saw a man toss 14 years of service down the tubes; his career, his pension, his family's health care, everything over stealing a can of chewing tobacco from the Navy Exchange. And all the time he had a wallet full of money. And it was his second offense (they let him off the first time with a suspended bust).
