Pilot audio. Hey if I land this successfully with Horizon give me a job?
ATC: I imagine if you pull this off they’ll do what you want.
Pilot....Yeah right!
Oh goodie, the FBI is involved... that will insure that we never learn what really happened.
><><
That’s for sure.
Serious. He first asked tower if the plane could do a back flip.
Yes. It is. Suicide by plane.
It’s the plane one flys for the Anchorage to Fairbanks leg of a trip to see Santa.
Me thinks there is going to be some serious security discussions tomorrow AM. I only hope they come up with some solid solutions.
Also having been in line for take off many a time in my life. I wonder why no one was able to get to him by take off?
On twitter there is a photo of emergency people parked and standing around at Stellacoom near the crash site. Well, pretty nearby. It looks to me like they are waiting for the ferry to take them over to the island.
I guess only a dozen or so homes on the island, and it looks like it crashed into the woods. We’ve had a dry summer, but it is probably mostly large fir trees that take a bit more to burn than a bunch of scrub brush.
Correction:

Pilot....Yeah right! I’m a white guy!

I never even heard of Ketron Island before, and I lived up there for 8 years (Poulsbo).
I think the Mariner’s baseball game was still going on - just 10 miles north of the airport. Glad he wasn’t a terrorist - F15’s from Portland wouldn’t have made it.
I believe this is the type aircraft or it's similar.
Just had to look. At full speed, an F15 can make it from Portland to Seattle in about 5.5 minutes at 1,600 mph. I’m guessing a few minutes to scramble and a minute to take-off and another minute to get up to speed? I’m guessing for an emergency they don’t worry about sonic booms?
You are correct.
I remember they did the same thing a few years ago when that nitwit blundered his private aircraft into the no-fly zone when President Obama was in Seattle. I remember the sonic boom that day. About blew out our big front picture window.
Just another millennial male basket case reporting for duty.
There really isn’t much you can do in this case. Mechanics do engine runs. Mechanics would be the guys who install and understand any disabling device. The airlines would freak out at the idea of a 2 mechanic rule like Air Force one. The expense would be prohibitive and there is already a shortage.
And say you implement all of that any way, and have a Marine with a rifle watch each mechanic as he works.
Guess what? That plane gets turned over to a PILOT. And it’s a well kept secret, but pilots go psycho as often as anyone else.
People need to just understand that you can’t have the aviation world in bubble wrap. Not much you can do here except watch people for signs of stress.
SeaTac, Minneapolis, Detroit, Buffalo, etc., all compromised with Islamic terrorists. Well, can’t figure out what else to call them as they are aligned with an evil cult and if they objected to the evil and terrorism it represents, they’d renounce it. Thus, since they haven’t, they too are terrorists.
Great points and a pragmatic point of view. Appreciate it. I love the point you make about the bubble wrap. And also the behavior point.
