There are towns in West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky where overdose rates are far higher than in Hollywood.
Because druggies tend to congregate in the areas where they can get drugs.

You described in a short sentence one (of many) the most disturbing phenomenons in our culture. What is happening and why? The insidious manner in which ‘opioid’ ie pill dope and methamphetones have deeply penetrated mostly middle and working class mostly white American communities is a very big deal that no one really wants to address. Lots of blabber about ‘homelessness’ and some on the ‘opioid crisis’ but no real focus by politicos or any big non-profits. What is going on is very destructive and very much under the radar.
