He was referring to the big picture of the Olympic mountain range (i.e. Mt. Rainier)and nothing whatever to do with the 1962 World’s Fair venue (i.e. the Space Needle) in downtown Seattle. Anyone who’s seen the Olympics on a clear day would understand why I am confident that this is what Russell was referring to. Had nothing to do with killing people and everything to do with the spectacular beauty of that rugged, snow-capped mountain range.
Mt. Rainier is in the Cascades, not the Olympics. Other direction.
I agree with your wrap up of the Olympic mountains, however, the biggest one is Mt. Olympus...not Rainier.
