The two cooperate substantially, part of tearing down the various "walls of separation" that were blamed in part for the government not picking up on the 9/11 plot, or picking up but not acting.

Cooperate, yes... but checks and balances are apparently relics of a remote and risible past. Collusion is another matter, though like vote fraud and censorship, it is only bad if someone other than leftists do it.
