If enacted, without an exemption for collectors, isn't going to go over well at all.

Is this tariff on domestic classics?

No. It is for reproduction parts that are no longer available domestically.

We need to exempt anything that I personally purchase from the ravages of tariffs. But the stuff other people buy? That’s fair game.

Typical Trump hate driven STUPID article and point.
“Take a vintage car at auction in Germany with a price of $1 million. Today, a dealer like Hyman would buy the car for a U.S. client and import it with duties that currently run about $30,000. “
That kind of classic car is a very small part of the classic car market. The domestic classic car market is unaffected, but does the article say that?? Of course not.
I HATE these constant lies of omission from the media.

Car collectors are going to have to take some short term pain for Team America. When our exports are taxed at the same rate that we tax foreign imports, we will finally have an even playing field, something that the Chamber of Commerce & the GOPe have intentionally given away.
To: Buffalo Head
I predict it will have little effect. If the tariff even goes into effect for a significant length of time.
It’s Trump hate driven drivel from the 90% negative news bubble.

Reproduction parts manufacturers can move the parts production to the US and Bingo, no tariff plus junior now has a good paying job and they can put the classic back in the garage junior moved out of.
Soon, foreign nations will drop their tariffs on US exports to get access to US markets.

The same ones that I have go through two or three to get one that works.
Or have to grind the crap out of to make fit.
But this isn’t unique to old cars. I learned the fine art of grinding from trying to keep my garden tractor running for more than 3 years.

B$. A 100% tariff would not stop these collectors they are used to overpaying for junk.
