Just raise the price of men’s products. Problem solved.
Thanks a lot.
Laughable someone would even write such an article. No one keeps them from buying Head & Shoulders, Ivory Soap, men’s razors, etc.
Of course there is no analysis of the production costs of each product...because of sexism...or something!
If women were unwilling to pay more for women-special products, there would be no price difference (and likely few women-special products).
If it didn’t cost more to market to women, you would not see much of a price difference.
My wife once asked me why women’s clothing cost more. I answered: “Look around and see how much square footage has to be devoted to women’s stuff, in order for women to find the exact color and style they want. They will try on umpteen different things, and then wind up returning much of what they bought. That’s why.”
Women pay more because they are willing to pay more to pamper themselves. Society has told them they are worth it.
Unintended consequences.
When we do that which sometimes married couples do, she even admits I smell pretty good.
I rest my case.
Everything goes on sale. Everything. And then there are coupons. Buy your products when they are on sale and with a coupon. And that goes for everything else. Just do smart shopping. Stock up when stuff is on sale. Or use products marketed to men. There is almost always an unscented version. Add some essential oils of a fragrance you like. Duh! This is not a crisis or conspiracy against women. With all the problems going on in the world, this is definitely a 1st world concern.
So just use soap and regular shampoo. If all women did, the pink tax would go away. It doesnt go away because women must buy the crap thats out there and manufacturers gleefully dance a fandango every time someone buys over priced products.
My wife often says. Wow this sale is good this widget costs only 1/4 what it sold for last month. The problem is the widgets new price is 2 to 3 times the price of a similar widget made for a man.
I suggest shopping at Walmart or Amazon to get more equitable prices.
Dont get trapped into the whole fashion nexus.
This is absurd. First, it is not a tax. Only government can tax. Second, if women dont want to spend more on lilac colored scented razors, then buy plain mens razors. I hate to say it, but many women believe silly things.
How about he/shes who have woken to the misconception he is now a she?
Couldn’t the shes declares they are hes to get away from the she tax?
No one has sat down and tried to ‘work it out’
Don’t buy overpriced crap. Problem solved. Of course I am a cold, heartless, logical man.
This is crap. Most things that market for men are very expensive, like The Art of Shaving or Aiden Gill. The reality is that most men are fine with uni-sex soaps like Irish spring and uni-sex shampoos. Many women like to upgrade in this area. So they buy something more expensive than the lowest price. Women literally prefer paying more because they think its better.
The so-called pink tax only exists because women are stupid enough — or vain enough — to buy those products.
Reminds me of an old comedy routine of Steve Martin. He was talking about womens cigarettes. He asked what the difference was. What do they have on them that made them female, little breasts?
Private industry - they can set their prices any way they please and Mehta and her cohorts can go to Hell.
this has been known for some time, especially the clothing...
There is no such thing as a pink TAX... women choose to buy the pink versions... it is not a tax if you have a choice in paying it.
You choose to buy the overpriced highly marketed items thats your own fault... no one forces you to do it.
Why do you think wedding dresses cost thousands and tuxedos are rented? Because women are willing to pay it.
Thats not a tax.
Men buy generic products. Women buy products with 47 degrees of alleged differentiation.
