Well, what happens when a faction walks out of a big established church hierarchy that has a lot of resources? The “gay” faction won’t seize the Vatican, that’s virtually sure. But they may seize individual congregations. Maybe something like “Rainbow Catholics” may appear, God forbid it does, but it could.
Universalists have a lot of ex-Catholics, but you don’t have to go far to find such congregations. San Francisco has some Catholic parishes that are indistinguishable from Universalism.
