As I get into longer distances with running, I will make sure to continue with bodyweight workouts and the like, so I don’t get sickeningly low-weight like I was in high school. I figure, the more abundant the muscle, the better I will actually be in running, anyhow. Any sane running coach would emphasize getting stronger in addition to gaining speed and endurance, IMO.

T-levels in men have been getting lower and lower over the years for some reason. I suspect that the average young male of today isn’t the dad bod kind that Teacher317 was talking about. I certainly wasn’t when I was young, but back in the 1980s and 1990s, I was the exception. It seems the exception, given the diminishing T-levels, is likely to become the rule, if it has not already.

I've run a few marathons, but no ultramarathons.

My experience, though, has been that long distance running makes me feel calmer and more contemplative.

The real bad asses are the ones who do Cross Fit. Those people are tough!

I’ve seen a couple of articles in Runners’ world in which a runner has actually become happier and more fulfilled when she gained weight. Sure, these were women, but I suspect some of these thin male runners would be happier if they put on some more (lean) muscle. If the average (dad bod) male got into running and kept his muscle, he would probably give the skinny runners a run (heh) for their money, since he would have more muscle fibers in the game.

So I don’t plan to go to a “running weight”, if it means getting into fly-weight territory.

Believe me, I know one of those guys from my time in Hap Ki Do classes. He was as aggressive as hell in sparring.

That would be known as "comedy." She doesn't seem to be very good at it. From what I know, which admittedly is limited, she seems to be into Trump-hatred and abortion-mongering.

Because I know a couple and have seen many of them.
I was a runner for 35 years, including 3 marathons and scores of half-marathons, 20Ks, 30Ks, etc. I never once met an ultra runner.
Nevertheless, despite our "pipe cleaner" arms, I still contend that the guys in my running family could kick butt.
