I was close to being attacked by 2-3 pits when I had my infant daughter out for a walk.
I heard some noise behind me that sounded like a rusty chain saw and looked back and there were some pits FORTUNATELY chained up with chains that held, lunging at them to get to me.
The one day they did get loose, some short time later, the police were called and they would not even get out of the car to deal with them.
Why they didn’t shoot them on sight is beyond me.
It’s a miracle that no one got killed by those dogs.

Just like you can’t stop a Lab from loving water and swimming, or a Border Collie from herding things, you cannot train a dog’s nature out of it. It WILL do what it was bred to do.
