Actually it - a reputed life expectancy for “gay” men - was not “factual” information. It was no better than pulling a number out of a hat.

Deaths are not recorded as “gay” or “straight”, so there is no accurate average age of death recorded that distinguishes between “gay” and “straight”.

I have worked with actuaries and actuarial data for pension and insurance purposes. There is data - life expectancy - for “males” and “females” but not for “gay males”, “straight males”, “gay females” and “straight females”.
