I’ve lived in 3rd world countries where stuff like this happens. Decent middle-class people therefore need to cultivate connections with thugs and mafia to deal with cases like this, because the police, law and courts are corrupt and couldn’t care less.

In many turd world countries, you never leave a house unoccupied. Too risky and hard to get people out. Police demand payment to help and property titles are unreliable.
