Don’t forget that taxes are still withdrawn from ss payments. Some states don’t tax, but Federal and some local taxes come out.

Withholding is voluntary, so as a default, no withholding is taken from a retirement SS check.
I wanted withholding.
I couldn’t do it online. I had to go to an SS office and file the paperwork.

You have to file Form W-4V to have federal taxes withheld. The options are 7%, 10%, 15%, or 22%.
