Pay, diversity and safety are still obstacles for female bartenders in Chicago. Despite making up the majority of the bartending industry, women earn just 80 percent of their male counterparts’ income, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and The Wall Street Journal. Many female bartenders in Chicago carry a weapon at night or have a game plan for late-night commutes. Also, female bartenders of color tend to have less access to education, exposure and opportunities.

That was a meme for a while...apparently that bearded guy had mental issues, and that guy shouldn’t have gotten in his face. There is a lesson there, and that lesson is: One, to avoid public transportation unless you have no choice. Two, unless you are physically accosted, simply keep to yourself until you can get off.
That guy who got his face pushed in would have been better served to remember those things.

if true, then they’re not doing it right ...
I seem to recall that there was an article in one of the Chicago newspapers within the last five years regarding how hosting in restaurants was sexist. Apparently, the better looking females were put in the front areas greeting customers. Now it is bartenders. In five years, it will be another occupation within the industry.
They probably do because they suck.
Maybe percentage-wise, but they can’t sell and don’t hustle. 20byears managing and owning bars, and I never wanted a girl behind the bar. The ones that were marginally competent brought too much drama.
They don’t work as hard. Simple flippin fact.
I get it. Usually less pink haired slootz at Waterfront places, but I was talking about Clarendon, H Street, U Street, Old Town, etc.
I’ll bet a Big Breasted Woman Bartender makes a lot more in Tips that some White Dude, Beard or no Beard.
If I’m wrong it just proves that there are more Gay Men in this Country than I could have ever imagined.
