Acosta pinned this tweet to make sure people saw it:
“Just a sample of the sad scene we faced at the Trump rally in Tampa. I’m very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will result in somebody getting hurt. We should not treat our fellow Americans this way. The press is not the enemy.” The video showed rally attendees giving the finger and thumbs down to him as they jeered at him.
Seems very pointed. My theory: he’s been selected to be the Hero who foretold the violent event. They are trying to redeem him in the public’s eyes while destroying the Q movement.

But the press helped rally agitators to Maxine Waters’ call for “progressives” to make conservatives “unwelcome” everywhere. How gleefully the press reported their successes driving conservatives from restaurants and otehr public spaces, advertising the picketing of conservatives’ homes etc. The press helped the DNC coordinate harassment but whimpers like a puppy when people at a rally chant angrily at them?

I agree with your theory and would like to add that Acosta continuously auditioned for the role of “media hero” until they gave it to him. ;)
