I don’t know what to think about the idea these people are being controlled. My husband’s uncle was schizophrenic and off his medicine one time my husband heard him talking to Satan. He thought he was Jesus. He was asked about the overheard conversation and he said he knew he wasn’t really but the thoughts were in his head. One time he was found with a large Bowie type knife which he claimed was to clean under his toenails. He was sent to a place to get his medicine figured out soon after. His voices, etc were related to Christianity because he had always gone to church. Later in life, when he was taking meds as prescribed in the nursing home he read the Bible to his roommate who was blind.
Daughter’s roommate did a rotation in a mental health facility as a physician assistant student. A couple of the patients had political/news delusions probably because of what they pick up on the news. One thought the(white) roommate was Condoleeza Rice and that the patient was going to marry Donald Trump.
The mind is complicated. Perhaps nefarious types have the ability to control some people’s thoughts but sometimes the mind is just sick, for lack of better way to put it, and influenced strongly be environmental factors. In cases like this guy who was stopped you could blame the media/Democrat hysteria. They are probably A-OK with these behaviors as long as conservatives are the target.
