Despite the raging hype, it’s only a matter of time until the socialist sweetheart of the political left gets a serious lesson in the school of hard knocks known as reality.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to be pimped as the “future” of the Democratic party despite her batty ideas and proclivity for shooting from the hip without thinking first. Such impulsiveness is expected by the first politician for the millennial generation who have been seduced by Comrade Bernie’s siren songs of socialism in alarming numbers, at least according to a recent study by the Victims Of Communism Memorial Foundation.
The 28-year-old fireball who was only a few short months ago dispensing her Marxist talking points along with margaritas at a New York taco and tequila bar has gone from media star to being chaperoned on the campaign trail by none other than Senator Sanders himself.
But Ocasio-Cortez may soon find out that her proclivity for gaffes like not even knowing the difference between a “red” state and a “blue” one are going to end up being used by her growing list of detractors. This includes many within the Democratic party itself who are already miffed that she is stepping on toes despite not even having been elected to Congress yet.
Then there is the whole socialism thing which many – including an alarming number of millennials – are embracing as utopia despite mountains of historical evidence that it just doesn’t work and has brought misery to every country that has tried it.
Like Venezuela which is exactly what Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren had in mind with this barbecuing of the socialist superstar in which she suggested that Ocasio-Cortez be dropped off in as a learning experience.
Lahren mocked the candidate who she referred to as her “new girl” as well as expressed her sentiment that “it’s always interesting to watch a train wreck” in addition to floating the idea of spending some time in Venezuela.
Speaking of the socialist paradise, according to a new study by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the inflation rate in the Latin American banana republic could reach one million percent by the end of the year. Is there any wonder that people have had to resort to butchering and eating zoo animals to keep from starving?
Ocasio-Cortez may be spared the expense of an actual trip to the country in which conditions are so miserably horrific that “sh*thole” would be a compliment by simply picking up a copy of her hometown newspaper which reports on Venezuela.
Via The New York Times, “Venezuela Inflation Could Reach One Million Percent by Year’s End”:
“We are projecting a surge in inflation to 1,000,000 percent by end-2018 to signal that the situation in Venezuela is similar to that in Germany in 1923 or Zimbabwe in the late 2000’s,” the fund stated in its report.
With Venezuela’s government not releasing official figures, the fund’s prediction gave a concrete number to a situation that the country has felt with increasing urgency this year.
On the streets of Caracas, the capital, prices have skyrocketed to levels so high that many vendors now refuse to take bolívars bank notes, the national currency, because their value is eroding so fast. Some wealthy Venezuelans have turned to alternatives like Bitcoin. Store owners guess the prices they should be charging for goods; restaurant menus change weekly; and the price of the dollar, sold on the black market, has reached 3.5 million bolívars.
The inflation crisis comes on top of deep political repression led by President Nicolás Maduro, who was declared the winner of a vote this year that will extend his term until 2025. Lack of basic food and medicine has forced hundreds of thousands to flee the country.
Yep, she’s a trainwreck alright and the end of the line is getting closer every time she opens her mouth.

The democrats should fill their ranks with more Ocasio-Cortez-like politicians.

its a good idea. If she, or anyone, wants perspective on the United States, go live overseas. Venezuela, Egypt, Switzerland then finish in China. - spend a year each for a good cross-section.
I guarantee you she will come back with VERY different views about the world. More worthwhile than 4 years than in any university.

If she went down there she would be showered with adulation and all of the trappings of power and money that the socialist elites have garnered for themselves. She would never see the “street view” of Venezuela.
What I don’t get is the fact that Ocasio-Cortez “graduated fourth in her class from Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations”.
