About ten years ago, on Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, some HS, prep school, actually, girls didn't like the idea of one or more boyfriends leaving on the ferry...

So, delaying the ferry screwed up thousands of people. Those trying to go home and to their jobs from their holiday or vacation, those that got stuck on the "mainland" waiting to get to the island, and oh, btw, all the hotel rooms are already booked, and all those parking spaces are filled by cars whose owners are stuck on the island, you get the picture.
